# Reading results

What efficiency, linear feet, and waste mean in the shop.

## Efficiency

Efficiency is the percent of film used for windows versus what is cut off the roll (including necessary waste). Higher is better -- but sometimes a slightly lower number is worth it if it matches inventory or simplifies cutting.

## Linear feet

Linear feet tells you how much length you'll pull from the roll. This is what helps you order and stage accurately.

## Waste

Waste is film that's not part of any window piece. Waste is sometimes unavoidable due to width pairing. The goal is to keep it predictable -- and consistent across employees.

## What to check before cutting

- Does the roll width match what you plan to use?

- Does the linear feet look realistic for the job?

- Are the diagrams easy for your installer to follow?
